The cosmetics industry has been embroiled in controversy for years, with some companies making controversial claims about the health risks of their products.
Some claim to be able to “breathe” the ingredients they use in their cosmetics and others say they are designed to kill insects.
But some critics have also raised concerns about animal testing.
In recent years, cosmetics companies have faced scrutiny over their use of ingredients such as phthalates, triclosan and triclocarban, which are known to be linked to cancer, birth defects and other illnesses.
Some companies have since started using ingredients that have been banned in the EU.
